World Music Day Celebration 2026: Celebrated at the Norling Studios, Thimphu
The Department of Media, Creative Industry and Intellectual Property (DoMCIIP) celebrated World Music Day on June 21 in collaboration with M Studio and Norling Studios bringing together artists, musicians, producers and music enthusiasts to recognize and celebrate the contributions of Bhutan’s music industry.
Observed globally on June 21, World Music Day is a celebration of the universal language of music. Music plays an important role in our daily lives—it entertains, inspires, heals, and connects people across cultures and generations. It serves as a powerful medium for expressing emotions, preserving cultural heritage and fostering creativity and social cohesion.
To mark the occasion and recognize the dedication and hard work of artists who continuously strive to create quality music, the Department presented awards in five categories based on Spotify and YouTube performance metrics.
Supported through the ESP Budget, the celebration drew over 100 participants from Bhutan’s music sector, providing an opportunity for artists and industry professionals to come together, celebrate achievements, and reaffirm their commitment to the growth and development of Bhutan’s music industry.
